The school has had an incredible year in both hurling and camogie, reaching the final in both. The girls will play their division 3 final next Wednesday, the 11th of May. The time is still yet to be decided but it will start at either half 3, or half 4. The girls won division 4 last year and stepped up a level this year to division 3. They will be playing against Kilcormac in Birr hurling field. Kilcormac will offer a great test to the girls, and will be looking for revenge after our girls defeated them in a narrow 4-3 win in the indoor camogie competition earlier this year. That day the girls had to come back from 3-0 at half time to win, so they certainly know how tough the match will be. They also have a chance to get into another final as next Friday, the 13th of May, the Drumcullen/Clareen team will be hurling against Kinnitty/Roscomroe, and with a win, the girls would be through to the Camogie Group A final Meanwhile, the hurling final will take place in the next couple of weeks with a time and date still to be set. In this final the mixture of the boys and girls will be facing Coolderry. The team managed to get a win very early on in the championship against Coolderry, who will be looking to make amends for that defeat in what will prove to be a very tough match. This could be an unprecedented year with all 3 of our school teams getting into finals. This would be a massive achievement for our small school. The students have been training hard all year and are hoping to bring home some silverware. All support would be greatly appreciated and we wish all 3 teams the very best of luck going forward, and are extremely proud of the effort the boys and girls have put in throughout the year. This Weeks Assembly6/5/16 During this weeks assembly, Miss Smyths Improvers class of Jake, David, Alannah, Erin, Leo, and Caitlin performed "Marry you" by Bruno Mars. Whizzkids!4/5/16 This semester, the students from 4th, 5th, and 6th will again be taking part in a computer programming course brought to us by Whizzkids. The students, as well as the teachers put a lot of work into the day. We would like to congratulate them all. They did a great job for the school. 6th Class Skills Competition1/3/2016 Seir Kierans N.S would like to congratulate our 6th class student Luke, who won Offaly's 6th class schools competition. He will now go on to represent our school and county as he goes on to hurl at half time of the all Ireland final or all Ireland semi final. Aine participated in the girls competition and did brilliantly and came third. We are extremely proud of both students. Author Judi Curtin's Visit25/2/2016 On Thursday the 25th of February, the students were treated to a visit from best selling author Judi Curtin! She is best known for writing the best selling 'Alice and Megan' series.
