GAA Coaching:GAA Coaching will begin for all classes tomorrow Tuesday the 18th of February. For the time being, children will not be going down on the field as conditions don’t allow. So, for the moment, the only gear children require to bring is a hurley and helmet. Class teachers will notify children when their classes will be going down on the field and what gear to bring in then. If anyone doesn’t have a hurley or helmet, don’t worry, we will sort something out for you. All you need to do is let me know. For the first couple of weeks, hurleys and helmets will be used very little, there will be an emphasis on fundamental movement skills in the coaching. This year we are delighted to welcome Sean Dolan as our GAA coach to work with the children. We thank Seir Kieran GAA for organizing all of this.
School Garden: We are currently trying to exhaust all avenues of obtaining some form of public funding to do works on the garden. We hope we maybe successful in getting some public funding. So, until we have established where we are at with this, we are not in a position to proceed further.
Scrap Metal Collection: The school will be holding a Scrap Metal Collection to raise funds for the school on the 8th of March. Further details of this will follow in the next couple of days. We thank Colm Makim for all his hard work in organising this fundraiser for us.
Bishop Visit: Bishop Niall Coll will visit Seir Kieran Parish on Sunday the 2nd of March to celebrate mass to mark St. Kieran’s Day which is on Wednesday the 5th of march. As part of the Bishop’s visit, all families are encouraged to come along as families to mass on Sunday the 2nd at 11am in the church. I know Mairead who is in charge of the choir is delighted with the young faces who have turned up to practice on Saturday nights, in preparation for the mass. Many thanks to all those children who are taking part in the choir, I know you’re commitment is much appreciated. We look forward to seeing a good turn out on the 2nd of March to both celebrate the feast day of our patron saint and to mark the Bishop’s visit.
Half Day Closure: School will close at 12noon on Friday the 14th of March to allow for teacher in service to take place.
Outstanding School Payments: We would appreciate it, if those who have not yet paid school contribution/swimming etc. could organise to do so. It can be paid in instalments. Should anyone have any difficulties regarding same, please contact me.
