March 2025 Newsletter
Dates for your Diary:
Wednesday the 5th of March: Ash Wednesday Children attending Mass 10am.
Saturday the 8th of March: Scrap Metal Collection
Friday the 14th of March: School closes at 12noon.
Monday the 17th of March: St. Patricks Day - School Closed
Wednesday the 26th of March: FAI 5-a-side soccer.
St. Kieran’s Day: This proved to be a brilliant day for the community, with so many turning out to honour what is a wonderful tradition in the parish of Seir Kieran. Well done all.
Scrap Metal Collection: We look forward to this being a successful fundraiser for our school. Please refer back to last weeks email for further details. Your help and support is much appreciated with regard to this. Remember every cent that is raised from this will be spent on improving facilities for your children, let that be in the development of the school garden or providing your children with a better service. So please play your part in this fundraiser
Easter Raffle Cards: The Parents Association will send out these cards at the end of March. Further details will follow. Míle Buíochas to our hardworking Parents Association committee who organise all of this.
Ash Wednesday: There is mass in the church at 10am this Wednesday to mark Ash Wednesday which is the beginning of Lent. The children in the school will be attending. All are welcome to attend.
Half Day: Please note that school will close at 12noon on Friday the 14th of March as teachers will be doing in-service.
Internet and Technology Use Agreement: We are in our first year of this agreement, where many parents and children signed up to keeping smartphone ownership out of the hands of children until they leave primary school. Another element of this agreement involves social media, where parents and children also agreed to stay off these platforms until they are legally entitled to be on them. Please take note that the minimum legal age for using Facebook/Instagram, Tiktok, Twitter, Snapchat and Youtube is 13 years old. In the case of Whats App, the legal minimum age is 16. It also states that if it is supervised by a parent, Youtube can be used by under 13’s.
These requirements are there for very good reason, they weren’t just made up, so all should be abiding by them, in the very best interests of their children.
School Garden: As I stated in the February newsletter, we are exploring all avenues of obtaining public funding for this. I know this process is slow, but we will persist with it, until it is exhausted and following on from that, we will proceed with plans for the garden. As soon as I have more to report to you, I will.
FAI Soccer Blitz: This takes place on the 26th of March. Ms. Murphy will issue all concerned with an email nearer the time.
Outstanding School Payments: We would appreciate it, if those who have not yet paid swimming lessons could organise to do so. It can be paid in instalments. Should anyone have any difficulties regarding same, please contact me.
