March
Dear Parents,
Dates for your Diary:
Thursday the 25th of March: Board of Management meeting (via zoom) @ 8pm.
Friday the 26th of March: School closes for Easter Holidays.
Monday the 12th of April: School re-opens.
I wish to acknowledge the efforts of pupils, parents and staff alike over the lockdown period and since our return to school. None of this has been or is easy for anyone. Everyone has really pulled together and made the very best out of what were and as I say continue to be difficult circumstances. I very much appreciate your continued co-operation and support in this regard.
The Plans for this Friday: Usually we would break for a half day at Easter. This year however with all the restrictions which are in place, we will be keeping children in school for the full day on Friday. It is planned that for the second half of the day, the children will engage in fun activities.
Paddy Connors Sky Dive: I am sure that you are all aware at this stage of what Paddy is letting himself in for. Paddy is teaming up with Keeva Abbott (daughter of Kevin Abbott) and John Sampson to do a skydive to raise funds for the building of a much needed Midland Hospice facility. Paddy is a massive community person who does so much for our school. He regularly tends to jobs in the school and we are very appreciative of all he does for us.
As a gesture of our support towards Paddy we will have a non-uniform day on Friday. If children have Seir Kieran’s colours, they are encouraged to wear them in. Also on the day we ask all families to make a contribution. I am well aware that many of you have contributed already but any donation is welcome for what is a fantastic cause. Good man Paddy – we are all proud of you.
Clothes Collection: Our clothes collection in December resulted in us receiving a cheque for €912.00. Many thanks to all who contributed to the collection.
Substantial Investment in IT: The school has made a substantial investment in new IT hardware. The school recently purchased 15 chromebooks, 2 laptops and an ipad at a total cost of €5503.00 While the school does receive an IT grant from the department, this spending and previous spending has resulted in us spending much more than the department made available to us. This would not be possible without the extra fundraising we do. As is always the case, everything we raise in this school is spent directly on resources which enhance the learning experiences of our children. This recent investment in IT will no doubt expand on our children’s learning experiences. We appreciate the vision and support of our Board of Management and Parents Association in everything we do.
On behalf of all the staff, I would like to wish you and your families a happy Easter
