On the 3rd of May Faye represented the school in the Cumann na mBunscol skills competition, which took place at St.Rynaghs pitch in Banagher . The hurling and camogie skills assessment involved ground striking on left side and the right side a distance of 21 metres ( 6 points) , jab lifting and striking a ball on the run over the bar from 21 metres on left side and on the right side ( 6 points) and finally long puck on the left and on the right ( 7 points). We are all delighted for Faye as she goes on to play at half time at the All Ireland Final in Croke Park. |
On Sunday 14th of May the children from 2nd class received the sacrament of first Holy Communion. It was a beautiful ceremony and we were very lucky that there were only a few showers of rain in the afternoon!
In two weeks time, all the girls and boys on the hurling and camogie panels, will be playing in two finals in Birr. Both teams are training very hard. We are all training everyday down on the field. We have had skills sessions with Hughie who comes every Tuesday. On Fridays Emmet from Offaly Sports Partnership comes to help us improve our fitness and agility levels.
We are playing Coolderry in both finals and we feel like we are prepared for the challenge. We wish all teams involved the best of luck. On the 12th of May our school had a visit from Little Makers, Kate and Ross. Classes from 1st to 6th, took part in a lego making course. Our theme was based on the Roman times . We made temples, lookouts, villas and barbarian houses. At first we worked in small groups and towards the end of the lesson, we joined all of our pieces together to make a Roman lego city. We all had so much fun making lego creations. Kate and Ross are two very kind people and we are very grateful for them coming to our school. |
