November
Dear Parents,
Dates for your Diary:
Monday the 16th of November: Board of Management meeting at 8pm.
Monday the 7th of December: Drop off clothes for Clothes Collection.
Fáilte Romhaibh Ar Ais: We welcome all our pupils back after the Halloween break. We are looking forward to a busy half term up to the Christmas break. As with the first half term, all the changes to how our school which are operating at present (as per Public Health Guidance) remain in place. We look forward to working with you in the same manner as we did in the first half term.
Hurling/Camogie Coaching: This began on Monday the 9th of November and will also run for the remaining Mondays in November, namely the 16th, 23rd and 30th of November.
Primary Planets/Newsflash: Our 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th classes receive these magazines every month. The magazines are of a huge educational benefit to the children as they not only benefit from reading but they also benefit from learning about the most up to date current affairs. We wish to thank our Board of Management and Parents Association for funding these magazines.
Creative Schools Cluster: The school has being successful in applying to be part of a Creative Schools Cluster. We are part of a cluster which is comprised of Kilcormac NS, Broughall NS and ourselves (Seir Kieran’s NS). This means we will receive funding to spend which will build on the children’s creative abilities. The money in question is vast. This year we will receive over €2000 to spend on creative projects. Ms. Murphy is leading our school in organising how we use the money to build on the creative skills of our children. We thank Ms. Murphy for this.
Clothes Collection: We have re-arranged our clothes collection to take place on Tuesday the 8th of December. You can drop clothes into the Parish Hall anytime (from 8.45am to 2.45pm) on Monday the 7th of December. Please spread the word amongst parishioners, family and friends.
Christmas Cards: Each boy and girl in the school has designed his/her own Christmas card. These cards are in the process of being sent to the printers. You will then be in a position to purchase your child’s/children’s Christmas cards by ordering them online with the ‘Design A Card’ company. You will be furnished with further details of how you can order these cards in the near future. This is not a school fundraiser. The money which the company charges for cards is their business, the school is not adding anything to the costs. It is simply an opportunity for you to buy packs of cards, designed by your children, to send to loves ones this Christmas.
Crib: With no Christmas Show this year, the children in sixth class are creating a crib which will be put up on the Church grounds. As these children will not have a show this year, we felt it important that they take on a project which leaves their stamp as a sixth class. They will be helped by their class mates in fourth and fifth class.
Parent Teacher Meetings: Parent Teacher meetings will not take place this month due to the current Public Health circumstances. We are deferring them until February in the hope that we will be able to operate Parent Teacher meetings then. We would like to meet parents in person but if this is not possible in February, we will look at other options regarding the operation of our formal Parent Teacher meetings. As is always the case though, if there is any issue concerning you, regarding any aspect of your child’s welfare or learning and you wish to speak to a teacher, you are encouraged to contact the school and make an appointment with Gerardine to speak with your child’s teacher. If possible this will be conducted over the phone but if it is felt that a face to face meeting is required, such a meeting will be organised.
Enrolments for September 2021: If you have a child due to begin school in September 2021, please fill in the enrolment application form and return it to the school. You can print off an enrolment application form from the school website. You can find this by visiting www.seirkieransns.com, clicking on the Information tab and in turn clicking on the Enrolment application form. Alternatively you can contact Gerardine in the office to provide you with an enrolment application form. If you are aware of others who currently do not have children attending Seir Kieran’s NS but have a child due to begin in September 2021, please make them aware of this. Forms can be returned in a sealed envelope for Gerardines attention in the office.
Parents Association Raffle: The Parents Association raffle which was due to take place in Easter will now take place on the 22nd of December. All cards whether filled in or not must be returned to the school on or before Thursday the 17th of December. Should you require extra cards, please let Gerardine in the office know and she will furnish your child with one. We will send home cards in the coming week to parents of children who started in Seir Kieran’s NS in August. Any effort to fill the cards is greatly appreciated as any money raised is spent directly on enhancing the learning experiences of your children.
Book Rental/Insurance/Art/Photocopying money Many thanks to all those who have already furnished us with payment. We would greatly appreciate it, if those who are still due to pay could furnish us with payment as soon as possible, this again would be much appreciated. You can pay in instalments if you so wish.
