Dear Parents,
Dates for your Diary:
Weds/Thurs the 9th / 10th of November; Clothes Collection
Monday the 14th of November: County Photos
Monday the 21st of November: Board of Management meeting at 8pm.
Thursday the 24th of November: Parent Teacher meetings.
Tuesday the 20th of December Christmas Show @ 7pm
Fáilte Romhaibh Ar Ais: We welcome everyone back to school after the Halloween break. In particular we extend a warm welcome to Ms. Leanne Kelly who has joined our staff. We wish her all the very best in her teaching career in Seir Kieran’s NS. We also extend a warm welcome to Summer and Aria, two girls who will be beginning their school life in Seir Kieran’s NS in Ms. Harding’s room, this week. Again we wish them well during their time in Seir Kieran’s NS. We all look forward to a busy half term up to the Christmas break.
Mile Buiochas Daoibh Go Léir: Many thanks to all of you who made Ms. William’s celebration such a brilliant event, on Friday the 14th of October. The children were super on the night. Our PA in particular deserve huge credit for organising all regarding refreshments on the night. As per usual so many of you put your shoulders to the wheel. Ms. Williams was very appreciative to all who helped make the night such a special one for her. Thank you all so much.
Clothes Collection: Any bags of clothes you have been holding for us can be dropped into the school on the evening of Wednesday the 9th of November or on the morning of Thursday the 10th of November. Please note that the clothes will be collected before 9.30am on Thursday morning so please make sure you have all in by then. Again all support is much appreciated.
County Photos: The school photographer is coming to Seir Kieran’s NS on this Monday, the 14th of November. Should you have any requests for your child to be photographed with cousins or anyone else, please send in a note to the relevant class teacher outlining such a request.
PA AGM; The PA AGM took place on the 19th of October. I was delighted to get the opportunity to address the meeting on the night. Our PA do wonderful work in supporting our school in so many ways. As is always the case we need people to volunteer and take up roles. Pauline Dooley departed from her role as secretary after giving excellent service over the last few years. We thank Pauline for all her hard work. Aisling Donnelly will take up the role of secretary. We wish Aisling well in her new role. We look forward to working with our PA in the best interests of our children for the remainder of this school year.
Hurling/Camogie Coaching: As you will be aware, Adrian Clancy has departed from his role as Games Promotion Officer with Seir Kieran GAA to take up a new role with Offaly GAA. We wish Adrian all the very best in his new role and we thank him for all the good work he did with our children. This means that for the time being there will be no GAA coaching on Wednesdays.
Dance: Lisa Hogan will return to the school tomorrow the 8th of November to work alongside teachers in doing a block of dance classes with the children. These classes will run every Tuesday in November so please ensure that your child is in his/her school tracksuit on these Tuesdays. We are delighted to welcome Lisa back. Again I wish to thank our Board of Management and our PA who fund this exercise.
Primary Planets/Newsflash: Our 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th classes receive these magazines every month. The magazines are of a huge educational benefit to the children as they not only benefit from reading but they also benefit from learning about the most up to date current affairs. We wish to thank our Board of Management and Parents Association for funding these magazines.
Christmas Cards: Each boy and girl in the school has designed his/her own Christmas card. The sample Christmas cards will be sent home as soon as we receive them. You can then purchase your child’s/children’s Christmas cards by ordering them online with the ‘Design A Card’ company. All the information will be on your child’s sample card. This is not a school fundraiser. The money which the company charges for cards is their business, the school is not adding anything to the costs. It is simply an opportunity for you to buy packs of cards, designed by your children, to send to loved ones this Christmas.
Christmas Show: For the past two years the children have been denied the opportunity of performing in a Christmas Show. As a school we have always appreciated the value of our show and how the children and staff work together in a fun manner while encountering various learning experiences. With this in mind, we as a staff see it to be important that the children get their opportunity to perform this year. The show will take place in the Parish Hall on Tuesday the 20th of December at 7pm.
Parent Teacher Meetings: Parent Teacher meetings will take place on Thursday the 24th of November. We hope to have seen many parents before the date itself as it simply would not be possible to see all on the day. With this in mind, we would appreciate it if you could indicate whether you would be in a position to see us on mornings over the next couple of weeks. You can email the school with the days of the mornings which you would be available to see us. Alternatively you can send in a short note indicating the mornings you may be available to meet. Your help and cooperation in this regard would be much appreciated.
Enrolments: The Schools Admission notice will shortly be published on our school website. This can be downloaded from our school website by clicking on the Enrolment tab. Please inform anyone who has a child due to begin school in September 2022 of this.
Book Rental/Insurance/Art/Photocopying money: Many thanks to all those who have already furnished us with payment. We would greatly appreciate it, if those who are still due to pay could furnish us with payment as soon as possible, this again would be much appreciated. You can pay in instalments if you so wish. Please pay online, if possible. To do this you can visit the school website @ seirkieransns.com, click on the school payments tab and in turn click on the payments link. If you experience any difficulties with this, please contact Gerardine in the office.
Junior Infants to 3rd Class: Many thanks to all of those who have already paid €15 per child to go and see ‘Rudolph saves Christmas’ in Birr Theatre on Thursday the 15th of December. If you haven’t already furnished payment for this, we would appreciate it if you could make payment as soon as possible. Again, many thanks to our Board of Management and Parents Association who are funding the bus to go to this show.
Christmas Shoe Box Appeal: Those who wish to participate in the Shoe Box Appeal should have their shoe boxes returned to the school tomorrow or you can order online at www.teamhope.ie
Christmas Annuals: If you wish to order a Christmas Annual for your children, please return the slip that was sent out to you before Halloween. Please send this back in no later than this Friday the 11th of November.
