Dates for your Diary:
Friday the 6th of January: Attending mass at 11am.
Tuesday the 10th of January: Open Night in St. Brendan’s Birr for 6th class.
Thursday the 12th of January: Swimming Lessons begin
Friday the 13th of January: Tag Rugby begins.
Monday the 23rd of January: Board of Management meeting at 8pm.
Fáilte Romhaibh ar ais: All the boys and girls are very welcome back after the Christmas break. As we settle back into school after the Christmas break, we look forward to working with you in the very best interests of your children during 2023.
Swimming Lessons: Swimming lessons (1st – 6th class) will start on Thursday the 12th and will run for five Thursdays. The cost per child is €35 which can be paid by the end of February.
You are reminded of the following:
Tag Rugby: This will commence for all classes on Friday the 13th and run for a 5 week block up to the February mid-term. Children just require to be in their school tracksuits each Friday up to the February mid-term.
Enrolment: The school is now accepting applications for enrolment for the 2022/23 school year. Should you know people who wish to enroll their children, tell them to email the school at seirkieransns@gmail.com with all relevant details and we will get back to them.
Hurling/Camogie: Coaching for all classes will resume in February. Further details will follow. From now on, children from 3rd – 6th classes are encouraged to bring their hurleys, helmets, boots and a change of socks in, to allow them to go down on the field at lunchtimes, should conditions permit.
PE Curriculum Evaluation: Department Inspector, Padraig Fahy was in the school on Wednesday the 30th of November and Thursday the 1st of December conducting an evaluation on the teaching and learning of PE in the school. The feedback from the Inspector was very positive. A report will be issued in due course.
Christmas Show: It was wonderful to be back performing again this Christmas. The boys and girls really enjoyed the experience. Míle buíochas to our staff and all those who helped out in the background, in helping to have all in order for the performance
Santa’s Visit: Míle buíochas to our Parents Association who organised Santa’s visit and the goodie bags for the boys and girls, on the last day of last term. Your efforts are much appreciated by all.
St. Brendan’s Community School Open Night: For those in 6th class, who are interested in attending St. Brendan’s next year, you are invited to their Open Night on Tuesday the 10th of January.
First Holy Communion: First Holy Communion will take place on Saturday the 13th of May at 11am. For all those directly involved, should you have any genuine difficulty with this date, please get back to us as soon as possible, otherwise we will take it that all is in order with the date.
Holy Day of Obligation: As tomorrow is a Holy Day of Obligation, the whole school will be attending mass at 11am.

- No shampoos, deodorants or gels are allowed.
- You are welcome in to view your child swimming. In the case of younger children, parents are encouraged to come to help their children change (if it is possible).
- Should you be satisfied for another parent to help your child change (who may be in a position to attend), you must send in a note to the relevant class teacher setting out your permission in such a case.
- If you wish to collect your child from the pool, a short note in the journal must be sent in.
