January 2025
Dates for your Diary:
Monday the 13th of January: Parents Association AGM @ 8.30pm
Wednesday the 15th of January: Le Chéile Swimming begins.
Thursday the 16th of January: Swimming (1st – 6th Class) begins.
Thursday the 30th of January: Board of Management Meeting @ 8pm.
Fáilte Romhaibh ar ais: All the boys and girls are very welcome back after the Christmas break. We are all happy to eventually get back after the Christmas break. We will continue to monitor weather developments each day, this week and you will be communicated with each evening regarding plans for the following days.
Míle buíochas: Many thanks to our Board of Management, Stephen Coakley, Nicky Dunne and Billy Dooley who all went beyond the call of duty, in seeing that we were in a position to open the school today. While we will always see all sorts of advice and statements being released from the Department, the reality is our Primary Education system would not function without people volunteering their own free time, to ensure we have a service. Many thanks to all who helped.
Swimming Lessons: Swimming lessons (Le Chéile) will start on Wednesday the 15th of January and will run for five Wednesdays. Swimming lessons (1st – 6th Class) will start on Thursday the 16th of January and run for five Thursdays. The cost per child is €50 and this can be paid before the end of February.
You are reminded of the following:
Enrolment: The school is now accepting applications for enrolment for the 2025/26 school year. Should you know people who wish to enroll their children, tell them to email the school at [email protected] with all relevant details and we will get back to them.
Christmas Show: This was a resounding success. The children were brilliant on the night. Míle buíochas to our staff and all those who worked so hard, to have everything in order on the night. Also, mile buíochas to all of you, for your generosity. Between donations and raffle tickets, €1580.30 was raised on the night.
Cystic Fibrosis Christmas Jumper Fundraiser: On the 20th of December, we ran a Christmas Jumper Fundraiser to raise funds for Cystic Fibrosis Ireland. €220.70 was raised on the day. Cystic Fibrosis Ireland wishes to thank you for all your generosity.
Santa’s Visit: Míle buíochas to our Parents Association who organised Santa’s visit and the selection boxes for the boys and girls, on the last day of last term. Your efforts are much appreciated by all.
Parents Association AGM: Our Parents Association AGM will take place this Monday the 13th of January in the school at 8.30pm. The Parents Association do great work in supporting our school. They are your association, so please ensure that there is a representative from each house, at the meeting on the night. In particular I will be outlining our plans for the development of our School Garden. In this respect it would be important that there is a representative from each house on the night to see as to how you all can play your part in helping to deliver a project, which will be to the benefit of all your children in the school. I look forward to seeing you on Monday evening.

- Should you be satisfied for another parent to help your child change (who may be in a position to attend), you must send in a note to the relevant class teacher setting out your permission in such a case.
- In the case of Thursday swimming, if you wish to collect your child from the pool, a short note in the journal must be sent in.
