Who was St.Kieran ?
St Kieran was born about the year 375 on the island of Cape Clear. When he was 30 years old he went to Rome to learn about Christianity. Twenty years later he returned as a bishop to spread the gospel.
On his way back to Ireland he met St. Patrick in Italy.St.Patrick gave him a bell and told him to build his monastery wherever the bell rang. He told him that the bell would ring in the middle of Ireland near a well or a river.The bell rang when he reached Bell hill.
St.Kieran died at the age of 90 in the year 465.
