Today we planted some chives and lettuce. First we filled the containers with compost. Then we carefully planted the seeds. We watered the flowers and left them in the garden. We check them every week and water them any day that it does not rain. We can't wait to see them grow!!!!

Australia Projects
Here are 1st and 2nd classes Australia projects that they researched themselves using the school laptops, with the help of Mrs Guinan. The students wrote about dingoes, koalas, kangaroos, emus, platypus and Aborigines as well as Australian money. They worked very hard on these projects, and they turned out brilliantly.
Class Novel - The Sheep Pig
We began reading a class novel in April. It is called the Sheep Pig by Dick King Smith. So far we are really enjoying it.
The book is about a pig who lives on a farm in England and thinks he is a sheep dog. His owner begins to train him, to round up sheep and he is very good at it. He saves the day when rustlers come to the farm to try and steal the farmers sheep! The book inspired the film Babe and when we finish reading the novel, we are going to watch the DVD of the film. The film is very funny. |
Our Poems for Assembly
|
|
For Friday, the 8th of April assembly, the students from 1st and 2nd classes recited poems for the school. 1st class recited 'snap, crack' by Richard Kealey, and 2nd class performed 'things you don't need to know' by Ken Nesbit. They worked very hard to learn the poems and recited them very well.
Our Cherry Blossoms
The students of first, second, and third classes put together these wonderful cherry blossoms.
My Smartphone isn't very smart by Kenn Nesbitt
My smartphone isn't very smart.
In fact, it's rather dumb. It's dumber than a doorknob or a piece of chewing gum. It used to be so awesome, but now my phone is lame. It cannot surf the Internet. It cannot play a game. It can't take any pictures. It can't install an app. It can't look up my email or an address on a map. It won't play any music. It cannot calculate. It won't bring up a calendar to show the time or date. It cannot send a message. It cannot make a call. It's safe to say my smartphone won't do anything at all. It wasn't always like this. Perhaps you'll take a peek? I don't know why it acts like this. I charged it just last week! |

Do a deer performed using handbells and chime bars
This week the children in first and second class learned a beautiful song called Doh a deer on the handbells and on the chime bars. The song is from the musical The Sound of Music.
Our chime bars and handbells are colour coded which enabled everyone to follow the music easily as it was also colour coded. We had lots of fun learning this song and we performed it for the whole school at assembly on Friday. |
