Clareen NS Make it a Treble !!
On Wednesday the 25th of May, Clareen NS completed an historic treble after the girls won the Caomogie division A final against Shinrone on a scoreline of 6-6 to 2-6. Clareen were joined with Drumcullen girls, and the Shinrone team consisted of both Clonlisk and Shinrone national schools. It was a tough game with Clareen/Drumcullen managing to ensure the victory. This win secured the treble, after Clareen on their own won the Camogie division C on their own, and the boys had won the division b hurling final. This finished a superb year for the school in the world of the GAA, These 3 wins accompanied the girls having already won the indoor camogie competition from earlier on in the year. These great wins were celebrated in the Seir Kieran club grounds with a bonfire and speeches from the chairman of the club, Tony Murphy, the minor chairman of the club, Joe Guinan, and principal, Mr Dunne. All the children attending thoroughly enjoyed the night. Congratulations to the girls, including the Drumcullen students who helped to ensure the win, and the school are tremendously proud of there efforts throughout the year.
Recently we received some beautiful aerial images of the school from Colin Vaugh. Colin availed of the fantastic weather on the day of the Communion to take his drone out. Clareen- Cumann na mBunscol Champions!
Here is the captain, Luke, being presented with the cup.
The school would like to congratulate the school's hurling panel for their excellent win against Coolderry on Wednesday the 18th of May in the Cumann na mBunscol B final. They won on a scoreline of 5-6 to 1-5 and hurled brilliantly. Goals from Faye, Luke and Conor helped to secure the win. Coolderry put up a great fight but Clareen were able to pull through and secure the victory. The boys and girls on the panel had put in a lot of work and thoroughly deserved to come out on top. The school and the parish are very proud of them.

Camogie, Group C Final Win!!
The school would like to congratulate the camogie panel who defeated Kilcormac in the division C final on Wednesday the 11th of May. The girls hurled brilliantly and thoroughly deserved the win. They are now in the division A final on Wednesday the 25th of May with Rath. Many of the panel are also involved in the hurling final which takes place on Wednesday the 18th of May. We are very proud of the girls and wish them the best of luck going forward.
The school has had an incredible year in both hurling and camogie, reaching the final in both. The girls will play their division 3 final next Wednesday, the 11th of May. The time is still yet to be decided but it will start at either half 3, or half 4. The girls won division 4 last year and stepped up a level this year to division 3. They will be playing against Kilcormac in Birr hurling field. Kilcormac will offer a great test to the girls, and will be looking for revenge after our girls defeated them in a narrow 4-3 win in the indoor camogie competition earlier this year. That day the girls had to come back from 3-0 at half time to win, so they certainly know how tough the match will be.
They also have a chance to get into another final as next Friday, the 13th of May, the Drumcullen/Clareen team will be hurling against Kinnitty/Roscomroe, and with a win, the girls would be through to the Camogie Group A final
Meanwhile, the hurling final will take place in the next couple of weeks with a time and date still to be set. In this final the mixture of the boys and girls will be facing Coolderry. The team managed to get a win very early on in the championship against Coolderry, who will be looking to make amends for that defeat in what will prove to be a very tough match.
This could be an unprecedented year with all 3 of our school teams getting into finals. This would be a massive achievement for our small school. The students have been training hard all year and are hoping to bring home some silverware. All support would be greatly appreciated and we wish all 3 teams the very best of luck going forward, and are extremely proud of the effort the boys and girls have put in throughout the year.

He will now go on to represent our school and county as he goes on to hurl at half time of the all Ireland final or all Ireland semi final. Aine participated in the girls competition and did brilliantly and came third. We are extremely proud of both students.
